Full Throttle Indoor Karting is excited to announce the 2012 Spring League Series sponsored by Jimmy John’s! We saw lots of exciting racing, close battles, and great sportsmanship in the 2012 Winter Series and can’t wait to get the next round of leagues rolling.

The Details

The 2012 Spring League Series will kick off with the first night of competition on Monday, May 7th. Each night of competition is $40 with a deposit of $80 due by the registration cut-off date. This deposit will cover the driver’s final 2 races of the series. League races will run at 7PM with the draw to set the grid at 6:45PM. Monday, May 28th will be a bye-week for Memorial Day. The registration cut-off date is Monday, May 7th, so get your entry in today!

The Format

Last series, we introduced the Random Draw format and it turned out to be a great success! The 2012 Spring League Series will continue to follow the Random Draw format. Each league night consists of three 15-lap heats. At the beginning of each night, each driver draws a number to determine the first heat starting order. The starting order for the second heat is the inverse of the first heat starting order. For example, the driver starting 1st in the first heat will start last for the second heat. The third heat starting order is determined by the average finish of each driver from the first two heats. In the case of a tie, the driver with the fastest lap in either of the first two heats starts in front. Each driver earns points for their finish in each heat, and the driver with the most points at the end of the night is the winner!

What’s New?

We’ve made a few changes for the 2012 Spring League Series. With the weather warming up and summer on it’s way, the Spring League Series will only run for 6 weeks, with each driver’s best 5 weeks being scored. We’re also updating the scoring system to a fixed points system. Each driver will still be scored points based on their finish from each heat, but these points will only be used to determine the final finishing positions for the night. Once the finishing positions have been determined, each driver will be awarded points for their position. The scale is as follows, starting with 1st: 25-20-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1. We will also run all leagues on Monday nights.

Our first round of slot car league racing brought to you by Fast Lane Slot Cars has come to a close and what a season it was! The Stock Slot.it and Modified Slot.it series had some great racing, with tight battles on track for each event. With a combination of great driving and perfect attendance, Dave Sievers managed to take the championship in both the Stock and Modified Series. Full Throttle Indoor Karting congratulates Dave Sievers for his hard-earned championship victory in the Trans-Am Series! Final standings can be found below – congratulations to all our competitors on a great inaugural slot car season!

The Full Throttle Indoor Karting Honda CRX piloted by sponsored driver Dave Montgomery and Operations Coordinator Tom O’Gorman took first and second in the Pro Class and overall standings, followed in 3rd place by the Full Throttle Mini Cooper piloted by Marketing Manager Dave Santel to lock out a clean sweep of the podium. Cashier Natalie Martin participated in the novice class at the event driving the Full Throttle Mini Cooper at her first ever race, and completely annihilated the class by over 3 seconds (two eternities in autocross terms). Many congratulations to Natalie for an outstanding performance at her first event, although her job may now be at risk because she also beat Full Throttle co-owner Joe O’Gorman in his Miata. Track workers Gordon Makalevitchinskisteinbergson, Evan Frank, and Chris Jackson also had great runs during the day! Not sure what autocross is? Take a helmet-cam ride with Dave Santel through the sea-of-cones for yesterday’s event HERE.

Our Winter League Series sponsored by Jimmy John’s wraps up this week and it’s time to crown our champions! We’ve seen lots of great racing, close battles, and good sportsmanship throughout the season. In Monday Night League 1, we had three tight points battles going into the final round – just 5 points separated the top two after all was said and done, and only two points stood between the 3rd and 4th place drivers! The finish was just as tight in Monday Night League 2, with 1st place beating 2nd by a scant 2 points and 3rd finishing with just one point over 4th, and just 5 points separated 3rd, 4th, and 5th when all was said and done in the Wednesday Night League. We’d like to congratulate Dave Lawson (DLAW) for taking the championship in Monday Night League 1, Chad Aylor (AylortheImpaler) for his championship win in Monday Night League 2, and Steven Nowland (Snowy) for his dominant championship win in the Wednesday Night League. Congratulations, too, to our winners from Monday Night, Jeff Calhoun (Newport Nightmare) in Monday Night League 1, Cale Ort (Skidmarkz) in Monday Night League 2, and Steven Nowland (Snowy) in the Wednesday Night League. Full standings, both with and without drops, are posted below – check out the tight battles!
